Gas Stove – Campingaz Twister 270 PZ

Since the Esbit stove I used on my first tours isn’t really the thing, I have switched to a gas stove. My choice fell on the Campingaz Twister 270 PZ. So far I haven’t been able to test the stove in use and have only had a look at it. As soon as I have gained some practical experience with it, I will publish it here. Its first outing will be in Sweden at the beginning of August.

There are several reasons why I chose the Campingaz Twister 270 PZ stove. At €27 it was relatively cheap (from a DIY store’s “20% off everything” promotion), and at 225 g it is not too heavy.

This currently brings my entire cooking kit to around 870 g. That is hardly ultralight yet, but I am quite happy with it. When removed from the gas cartridge, it also packs down very small in a plastic case.

Packed like this, the stove fits into my pots, so I can stow it there while walking. Thanks to the Easy Clic® connection, I can detach the stove from the gas cartridge at any time. The built-in piezo ignition saves you a lighter when lighting it (at least as long as it works). The packaging says something about an integrated windshield, but I have no idea which part of the stove that refers to or what on it is supposed to protect against wind – but I’m happy to be surprised.

I think the whole thing is perfect for my one-week trip to Sweden. However, I can well imagine that the Easy Clic® connection in particular also brings many disadvantages, especially on longer tours when you have to buy replacement gas cartridges (only Campingaz cartridges can be used, either the CV270 or the CV470). They are simply not the pierceable cartridges you can get everywhere.
