The northern Swedish manufacturer Fjällräven turns a proud 50 this year. To celebrate its birthday, there is a limited special edition of the popular Kånken backpack, available in 2010 only. Over recent years the backpack has increasingly become a real cult object and is still hugely popular.
Kånken – the cult backpack
The backpack is characterised above all by its classic, timeless look and long lifespan. It was originally developed in 1978 for schoolchildren, but adults quickly became interested in it too. There is now also a mini version of the backpack. The colours black, brown and ice blue are also available, so there is something for every taste.
Outdoors, the backpack has become established above all for its water resistance. It is made of high-quality Vinylon F fabric, which tightens up as soon as the backpack gets wet. This keeps the contents protected even in the rain.
The limited special edition of the Kånken is only being produced this year and will therefore certainly not be available for long. The backpacks are attractively priced:

In my view it is probably more something for nostalgics and collectors than for the modern hiker. But anyone who counts themselves among them gets a robust backpack with a retro design.
