Lafuma Pro 650 Down Summer Sleeping Bag: First Look and Field Test

Today I would like to introduce the Lafuma Pro 650 Down sleeping bag. OutdoorTrends was kind enough to provide us with a test sample. It is a fairly light and, above all, affordable down sleeping bag. Going by its temperature ratings, the sleeping bag is particularly suited to summer. People who don’t get cold quickly in a sleeping bag will probably also find it a good companion for mild temperatures in spring and autumn.

Technical specifications of the Lafuma Pro 650 Down

  • Weight: 650 g
  • Fill: 100% 95/5 goose down
  • Fill weight: approx. 250 g
  • Fill power: 750 cuin
  • Construction: mummy shape / H-chamber construction
  • Dimensions: 213 x 81 x 50 cm (length/shoulder/foot)
  • Packed size: 30 x 14 cm (compressed)
  • Material: polyamide 20D / water-repellent (outer), polyamide 20D (lining)
  • Temperature ratings: 5/0/-15 °C (comfort/limit/extreme temperature) according to EN 13537

The zip has a cover and an anti-snag guard. If you like to be a little closer to your partner on the trail, the sleeping bags can also be zipped together. When buying, you just have to make sure to get one version with the zip on the right and one with the zip on the left.

If you like to keep your valuables close while you sleep, you can use the inner pocket in the sleeping bag. It closes with Velcro and is big enough to hold my phone and wallet.

As standard, the manufacturer supplies a matching compression sack and a storage bag with the sleeping bag. At the foot end there are a few loops in case you want to hang the sleeping bag up for storage or to dry in the morning.

Field test of the Lafuma Pro 650 Down

Of course, after a relatively short test period I can’t yet write a detailed field test. For now, I can only share my first impressions of the sleeping bag. I will add further experience to the article bit by bit.

The material on the inside of the sleeping bag feels pleasant. The interior is very roomy. Although I am of a somewhat stockier build, I didn’t feel cramped inside the sleeping bag.

Verdict on the Lafuma Pro 650 Down

My preliminary verdict is pretty positive. If you are looking for a true summer-only sleeping bag, there are a few lighter down alternatives without the warmth reserves for down to 0 °C (limit temperature according to EN 13537). To everyone else, I can so far only recommend the affordable Lafuma.

Pros of the Lafuma Pro 650 Down

  • inexpensive (€180) for a down sleeping bag
  • plenty of room

Cons of the Lafuma Pro 650 Down

  • pure summer sleeping bags are lighter
