Today it was time to sleep in again and have a leisurely breakfast in front of the tent. The first bus to take us back to the trail didn’t leave until 8 a.m., and the stage we had planned to La Fouly was just 14 km long. The bus was packed – not only were all the hikers from the campsite on board, but also many people from Courmayeur, where the bus had departed from. There was quite a crowd, but we were luckier than the people at the later stops, some of whom could only catch the next bus because no one else could fit.

After we and a busload of other hikers had been dropped off at the bus stop, we walked uphill for the first 4 km in the fog, climbing from 1800 m to 2500 m. But luckily the fog cleared. Fortunately, the fog lifted at the Swiss border and we were able to really enjoy the picturesque descent. We passed another hut and reached the village of La Fouly on easy paths and roads. The campsite is not far from the TMB. We paid around €50 for three people and two tents. The campsite even offered washing facilities, so I used the rest of the day to clean myself and my clothes. I also paid a visit to the small supermarket in the village and did a little shopping at Swiss prices. There was also a small outdoor store right next door.

I particularly liked the communal house on the campsite, which offered all guests electricity, a roof and power sockets. After yesterday’s exhausting tour, the short day was really good for me.
