After an incredibly restful night, we continued towards the next water cache. Unfortunately, I can’t show you this location as one of the local residents has a problem with it. You also have to find out the exact location via a Facebook group.

Our route then led us through a wind farm. A rather dangerous place for most people, but for us PCT hikers it was simply another piece of nature with a technical backdrop. For the first 14 kilometers of the day, there wasn’t much to see apart from wind turbines – unless you’re standing right on top of them. So here are a few nice shots of us – with and without wind turbines in the background.

Most of the way to the first natural spring was together with Sleeping Beauty, who hiked the entire PCT in retirement. By the way, we are now meeting more and more other thruhikers – since Hikertown, the so-called bubble seems to be slowly closing in on us.

We filled our bottles thoroughly at the first spring of the day. It was to be the last one for the day – the next water cache was not in sight until the next day. From here, it was only 16 miles to the road where many people try to hitchhike to Tehachapi. At that moment, I realized that our hike was also slowly coming to an end. Every single step, every moment now counted double.

In the evening, we were rewarded with a beautiful campsite – a small stone wall with a perfect view back to the wind farm we had crossed. And then: the starry sky. Indescribable.
