This hike in Chiricahua NM in the southwest of the USA leads the hiker to a small natural bridge, which gave the trail its name. This tour is less spectacular than the trails directly in the “Wonderland of Rocks” but nevertheless leads through a great landscape and different vegetation zones. From Bonita Canyon, the trail climbs quickly to a small plateau with good vantage points that offer a view of the rock formations on the other side of the valley. The trail then descends into densely forested Picket Park.

Lesser known hike in Chiricahua NM

The trailhead is about 2 km from the Visitor Center (1.5 km from the campground) at a small parking bay just off Bonita Canyon Drive. The trail leads from Bonita Canyon up to a small plateau with good views of the rock formations on the other side of the valley. Following a plateau, the trail descends again a bit into the densely forested Picket Park.

A small rock bridge is the end point of the hike
The trail is named after an inconspicuous rock bridge about 9 m long, which can be seen from a viewpoint at the end of the trail. The way back is the same way. This trail is less spectacular than the hikes in the core area of the “Wonderland of Rocks – Valley”, but it has its charm and is also very little frequented.
