Today was the sixth stage of our Tour du Mont Blanc. From our campsite, we set off on a 28-kilometre hike with an elevation gain of 1400 meters towards Col de la Forclaz.

The first few kilometers took us through a picturesque Swiss landscape with green meadows and charming mountain villages. Despite the cloudy sky, the mood was exuberant. Fortunately, the first 10 kilometers were almost exclusively downhill, interrupted only by a few short climbs.

Shortly before midday, we reached Champex-Lac, an idyllic place with a large lake. Although it started to rain lightly, a few anglers were not deterred from trying their luck. We took the opportunity to stock up on provisions in the small village store before continuing on.

The next 13 kilometers were much more challenging. After a short stretch on the road, the ascent began. The light drizzle added to the mystical atmosphere as we hiked along rocky paths.

The subsequent descent dragged on as the weather became increasingly uncomfortable. When we finally arrived at the campsite, we were surprised by the higher price. We had paid less the day before and were offered considerably more. A descent to Trento, where there is also a campsite, was no longer an option for us today.

We cooked our food in the communal area and disappeared into our tents just in time for the rain. Personally, I really like these misty days. The dramatic atmosphere in the forest made this stage one of my favorites, even if it might have been a little more boring in the sunshine.
