A relaxed 15 km circular hike with a moderate elevation gain in the Harz Mountains.

The hike starts directly at the parking lot in front of the Auerhahn and starts with a moderate ascent of around 100 meters to the Schalker Turm. This is also where you will find the first stamp point 125. From the Schalker Turm, it is a pleasant downhill walk, where you can always enjoy beautiful views of Altenau from the Heinz Lüer Hütte.

The lowest point of the hike is almost reached at the next stamp point 124, where you will also find the beautiful and still quite new Köte on the Heidenstieg.

Der Lochstein Stempelstelle 124
The Lochstein. Is it worth the detour?

From here, it’s back uphill to the Schalker Turm. Passing the Festenburg castle, you can optionally make a detour to stamp point 126 on the Lochstein. However, the Lochstein itself is not particularly impressive, nor can it be seen from the stamping point. However, if you decide to look for the stone despite the mud from the previous days’ rain, you shouldn’t expect too much.

Back at the Schalker Turm, you take the same route back to the parking lot.
