The Mary Schäffer Loop in Jasper National Park is named after the first female tourist to experience the beauty of Maligne Lake without encountering any other tourists. About half of the trail runs directly along Maligne Lake, which was still partially covered in ice in the first week of June.

The hike is very easy and has no significant incline or effort and is more like a walk. If the Mary Schäffer Loop is too crowded, in the high season you can switch to the Moose Lake Loop Trail, which is very close to Maligne Lake.
