In February of this year I went on a backpacking trip through Scandinavia with a friend, and alongside all the other touristy stuff you do on a trip like that, we decided to go on a short hike in Sweden. As our hostel was in Stockholm and we were on a rather tight schedule, we decided to set off from Hellasgården, which is nearby and easy to reach by bus.
The route is neither particularly long nor technically demanding, but it lends itself to a pleasant walk combined with a visit to the sauna in the evening. That is especially appealing in winter/spring, by the way, as you can cool off in true style in the icy lake after the sauna. If you like, you can also get out your cross-country skis on this route.
Details and GPS data for the hike
- Distance: approx. 9 km
- Elevation gain: 185 m
- Duration: 2–3 hours
