Circular Hike from Clausthal-Zellerfeld to the Huttaler Widerwaage

A short circular hike from the Entensumpf car park near Clausthal-Zellerfeld. From there we follow the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg for quite a while. It takes us to the first stamp point, the Huttaler Widerwaage. This structure is used to feed water from the Huttal valley into the Hirschler Teich pond at low water by means of appropriate switching and, conversely, to relieve the pond of surplus water during floods.

We now continue along the ditch for a while before branching off from the Hexenstieg and hiking along a lovely little trail to the Schmidts-Denkmal memorial.

From here the path first drops rather steeply, almost all the way to the bottom, only for us to wind our way back up again to the Braunseck stamp point. With its picnic tables, the hut also invites you to take a somewhat longer break, which you have well and truly earned after the climb.

From here we take a small trail that is often muddy but leads us almost directly to the Bärenbrucher Teich pond. From there it is just under two kilometres back to the car park. On the way back we rejoin the Hexenstieg and pass the Entensumpf, after which our car park was presumably named.
