It was hard to leave our cozy, comfy camping barrel the next morning and make our way to our destination for today, O Pedrouzo. The sky was cloudy again and the rain pelted down on our hoods as we walked along the road towards Arzúa.

From Arzúa to O Pedrouzo

As we passed through the small village, we were able to take off our hoods – the weather changes that quickly here! As soon as we were on the road again, we found ourselves in a large stream of pilgrims flowing out of the village. In Arzúa, an important meeting point on the Way of St. James, different variants of the Camino del Norte join the Camino Francés, further increasing the density of pilgrims. The town offers pilgrims everything they need, from numerous hostels to restaurants, and is famous for its creamy cheese, Queso de Arzúa-Ulloa.

Arrival in O Pedrouzo – The calm before the grand finale

When we finally arrived in O Pedrouzo, the bad weather had disappeared and the sun greeted us. Our accommodation for the night was a room in an apartment that we shared with other pilgrims. The bathroom, kitchen and hallway were available to all, and there were three more rooms for guests.

O Pedrouzo, the last major town before Santiago de Compostela, is well equipped to meet the needs of pilgrims. There are numerous restaurants and stores where you can refuel and stock up for the last stage. We ended the evening in a small restaurant and looked forward to the next day, which would finally take us to Santiago.
