A wonderful hike that I was allowed to undertake in the summer took me on a circular walk from Riefensbeek-Kammschlacken on my hunt for stamps in the Harz Mountains. Incidentally, this is also where the Harzer Försterstieg ends, which holds a very special place in my heart. Unfortunately, you can’t tell from the accompanying article – I urgently need to revise it, but I digress.

We actually start uphill to the first stamp point, the Eleonorenblick (no. 147), and a little further before we have to descend via an adventurous path and make our way through the undergrowth for a short distance. The path here is probably not often used.

It is then all the easier on tarred and then gravel paths until we reach stamp point 143 at Köte Schindelkopf – although here, too, we have to climb a few meters in altitude.

From there, we branch off onto a narrow path that is part of the Harzer Baudenstieg and is simply picturesque – but it was also very wet and muddy. Unfortunately, I missed a turn-off and followed a super muddy forest road for a while before I had to find my way back to the right path through the undergrowth. The path to Hanskühnenburg then really inspired me. This is where you will find stamp point 144.

From here, the path is easy to follow until we reach the parking bay on the B242. From there, the trail continues on stony and rooty paths to the large Morgenbrodstal weir, where stamp 146 can be found. I would have liked to have done this section in daylight, as I consider it to be the second major highlight of the tour.

The last few meters back to the car are rather uneventful, but easy to walk – which suited me just fine in the complete darkness.
